Sunday June 24th
WRT was called early Sunday morning to Baxter State Park. Team members arrived at Katahdin Stream Campground late morning and ascended the Hunt Trail 2.5 miles to above tree line. There they met up with rescue effort and immediately started to help lower the 68 year old hiker down over the bolderous terrain. The team worked in unison with other trained teams to set up a high angle system and several low angle systems to lower the patient safely.
The effort went well into the night and after 10 hours the patient was safely delivered to the ambulance that arrived at Katahdin Stream. A major thanks to fellow rescue team members, volunteers, and park staff for a successful mission.

WRT had a great weekend at the Maine Sportsman Show, raising over $2,492.00. WOW thats a good turnout for the weekend. Thanks again to Spikes Tactical, Delorme, and LL Bean for helping us with expenses and raffles. Thanks also to all the team members that came out and helped and especially to everyone who donated. Without your donations, we would be unable to do what we do! Keep an eye out for our next raffles, we’re sure to have some sweet prizes and be a great way to support our team. The team is really appreciative of the folks at the Sportsman Show and all who donated. We had a great weekend and look forward to next year!

WRT was put on standby on Thursday, March 15, 2012 to assist with a search for a 12 year old boy in Dresden, ME. The boy was found alive and well, with only slight hypothermia by a team of wardens searching in a boat. The boy was found in a smelt shack on the bank; this is a very happy ending to a potentially very dangerous and unfortunate circumstance.
